Why we always shoot a wedding in pairs
A second photographer is not a luxury add-on. On a wedding day it is the difference between covering the morning and choosing between two halves of it.
A wedding morning happens in two rooms at once. One photographer means picking a room — and whichever you pick, half the story of that morning simply is not photographed.
So we send two, always, on every wedding, including the small ones. One stays with each side until the two halves of the day meet. Nothing about that is an upgrade; it is just what covering a wedding properly requires.
It changes the ceremony too. One of us works long from the back, staying invisible; the other works wide from the side, catching the faces in the front row rather than the couple. Those reaction frames are the ones families ask for most, and you cannot get them and the vows at the same time from one position.
At the reception it is simpler still: one on the floor, one on the room. Speeches get both the speaker and the person they are speaking about — which is, after all, the whole point of a speech.
